A Perry Barr post office will close to the public for two weeks while it is modernised and improved.
The branch on Wellington Road – which serves part of Perry Barr and Handsworth - will have more services once it has been transformed into a ‘main-style’ branch next month. Perry Barr Post Office will close for refurbishment from 5.30pm on Saturday, July 19. Once it reopens at 9am on Tuesday, August 5 it will boast a “modern retail environment” and car tax services will be available for the first time. Opening hours will remain the same.
As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network, the refurbished Perry Barr Post Office will have three modern screened serving positions. Customers will benefit from Car Tax renewal being added to the wide range of Post Office services on offer.
Post Office Area Manager Caroline Pritchard said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to people and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
She added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
In the meantime customers should use Witton Post Office, on Manor Road, Aston, or the Birchfield Road Post Office, 203-205 Birchfield Road.
